I remember some years ago, the remains of an old church was discovered in the graveyard,and if my memory serves me right, the church was medieval. so it is quite possible tha Castlebar graveyard was contempory with the church, possibly 12th or 13th century.Ernie Sweeney would have some information on file,because he discovered the church remains, and the site was surveyed by an archaeologist.
