12. Mary Black & General Humbert – Mo Ghile Mear
Before her stellar career as one of Ireland's favourite purveyors of sensitive MOR-ish English-language balladry, Mary Black often sang in Gaelic; she is, after all, another former member of the seminal De Dannan. Even earlier (1978), she recorded this stirring song with a group named after the man who – allied with Napoleon – led the 'Army of Ireland' to fight against the British in the rising of 1798, and proved more than a match.
