Sheskin is a vast area of bogland north of Bellacorrick. the following info is taken from NPWS Website.
Knockmoyle Sheskin Nature Reserve
Co. Mayo

Location: Situated north of Bord na Móna works at Bellacorick between Oweniny River on the eastern side and Sheskin Lodge and the ruined settlement of Sheskin on the western side.

Area (ha.): 1,198
An extensive area of lowland blanket bog densely pool-studded and containing interesting flushes.
Established in 1986. State owned.

The Western Way Walking Trail passes through this area. Coillte have recently installed boardwalks through most of this remote region.

There is a fishing & hunting lodge here , Sheskin Lodge, built by the McDonnell family and later owned by the Jameson family.( now in ruins. )
