Frank Elliott, who owned a pub in Castle Street, may have served in the Royal Flying Corps. A family named Pinner also lived in Castle Street, one of whom, Mary, I think, married a man named McDermott from Ballymacragh. Their son Paddy lived at Ballymacragh and is buried in the Old Cemetery on the Westport Road. Another brother, popularly known as "Slippers," emigrated to England at an early age. Paddy McDermott's wife was a Kerry woman. The McDermotts still live in the old homestead at Ballymacragh. One of the founder members of the Air Corps was Lord Tedder. Members of the Elliott family still live in Castle Street, including Ena, Chapel Street; Billy, a priest who flew his own plane, died in America some years ago and another brother, Geoffrey, passed away in Dublin. Peggy, another sister, lives in America and is married to a man named O'Brien from Kiltimagh. The McGowans, Davitt's Terrace, are other relatives of the Elliotts.
