I know the YouTube site has been around for some time now and it's not exactly sensational news anymore, but I can only marvel at the old film footage of the early songs of the Beatles. I can remember their songs been played over the radio back then when I first took notice of them although they had been around for sometime. Help & It's a hard days night were my first recollection of them then around 1962/63 I was a young teenager before I first got a glimpse of what they actually looked like in real life, from a large paper poster that was erected on a street corner of my hometown to promote an upcoming film at the local cinema. The Beatles made a few films back then which were terrible really, but I was elated to be able to see those lads performing any antics whatsoever because I was a big fan, and always joined in trying to sing along in accompaniment. I have been watching some footage of their music lately every day and it's nothing short of been wonderful to be able to watch them perform their music which I grew up hearing but never was able to see them as often as we would have liked except when they were making the news on our black&white tv-set. They had a reputation for been long haired and unconvensional back then but they looked very innocent with their happy smiling baby-faced good looks, all dressed up neatly in those velvet collared Beatle-Jackets that they were famous for wearing. They also started a craze for pointed-toed boots and shoes with a high heels. I can remember buying a pair of these boots even though the shop did not have a size small enough for me and the ones I bought were falling off me. Someone shouted out to me that my boots were too big for me before I got forty yards down the street, I pretended I didn't hear, nothing was going to prevent me from sporting my tough-guy brand new beauts. I kept wearing them proudly with the aid of several pages of old newspaper rolled up into a ball and firmly shoved down into the toe part an a regular basis for months on end. I eventually developed corns on both of my small-toes from friction brought on by my feet swimming around despite the copious amounts of freshly injected paper into the narrowing tips; Still I was feeling super groovy baby in those boots which the heels thereof draged behind me around the streets of Castlebar day & night, and that's all that mattered to me when I was a young whipersnapper. They were of the black leather type before the suade footware became popular and they vanished from fashion. "Those were the days my friend, I thought they would never end; Those were the days; Those were the days!
