It wasn't just in town either. I saw some brutal phyical abuse in a rural school near Castlebar in the early '70s. God love those kids, it's amazing that they survived having the crap beaten out of them just because they were not the brightest. On to the convent then and the snobbery was unreal but at least by the mid 70's the violence had subsided but not the verbal abuse - NEXTH!
