BALLYCROY NATIONAL PARK

Posted by Brian Hoban on August 01, 2009 at 22:17:07:

Visited the new Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre today. it is well worth the visit .

It is a welcome addition to the tourist facilities in the county and should increase visitor numbers to the North Mayo area.

Visitor Centre houses an interpretative exhibition for the landscape,
habitats and species of the National Park as well and information on the
surrounding area.

There is a short nature trail(2km) with a viewing point which offers great
scenic views of Achill Island to the west and the Nephin Beg Mountain
Range to the east.

Centre is located in the village of Ballycroy along the N59 between
Mulranny and Bangor-Erris.

Tearoom facilities have opened.
