It is sad to hear of the end of the Tennis Pavilion.
I have many fond memories from 1973 to 1975, when I was deeply involved in the story of the Pavilion at that time. My father was at that time chairman of the Tennis Club, and in the summer of 1973 I took on the task of repainting the building (a job which had not been done for 15 or so years before.) We (the coerced workmates and I) got it finished just in time for the August bank holiday weekend, and the Connaught hard-court championships of that year.
Over the next two years I had the pleasure of running many "hops" and was able to release much of my youthful exuberance there. Many a romance began (and sometimes ended) there.
Now that I live in Amsterdam, the end of the pavilion brings sadness to me, but I hope that there will be a fitting replacement
