I started school in the military barracks. Mrs. Hanley was my teacher in baby room. I then moved into Mrs O Flaherty's class . In first class we had Bro. Damian(Birdie).

My uncle John Hoban taught fourth class during the time I was in high infants. I used to bring him in a bottle of spring water each day from Pop Deane's well on the Newport room.

It was a big deal for me to be let up from Mrs. O Flaherty's class to the big boy's class.
