With all the rain and floods around the country,it's interesting to note that in Oct 1954, Mayo and indeed Castlebar suffered from severe flooding as a result of six days of torrential rain.In the town, Newantrim Street suffered the worst with a no of houses flooded when the water rose to several inches.
Castle Street also in the past suffered badly.Anywhere else in the town where it occured?
