At a County Council meeting in 1950,it was brought to the attention of the Manager an accusation that two years previously, two greyhounds had been taken to the County Hospital and then x-rayed using the hospital equipment.Amid gales of laughter and 'barking' noises,the Cllrs present thought it a joke until the Manager admitted that he knew about it.One of the dogs belonged to a priest he said but he gave an assurance that this practice would be discontinued in future.
