Thanks guys for the memories,
You have here another member of the great Fr Shannons Boys choir. He was trying to make us into his own Vienna Boys choir. And Im sure looking back now we were Good.My favourite was Cry out and shout,The Harmonies were fantastic.I used to stop and listen to the choir, and even as a choir singer the hair would stand up on the back my neck.Mister O Connell on the organ was brilliant,To watch his shoes hopping on those peddals was a sight to behold,Bring in extra accumplement.....................................Going around the town singing carols at different locations on cold and frosty nights was not a highlight.........Visiting the Hospitals was great, especially the SHH as you said.Honour the wren was the cry,on St stephens mourning. Then some of us would dress up later in the day and visit the Pubs in town,Singing and playing music,For money of coarse............The National Museum is keeping up this old Tradition and are giving Todays Society a taste of the past. There is a group of Mummers from Sligo in Turlough Museum next Sunday 3rd jan @2.30.....One of the Highlights after Christmas was the Traditional Ringing of the New Year bell, from the top of Mc Hale Rd to the Factory.I wonder is it still been done.Thats All for now folks.

A very Happy New Year to all in Castlebar, especially McHale Road.
