Growing up on Spencer Street, I remember Ethel Staunton as a lovely lady who would take a walk most days up the "Lawn" with her beloved dog Dopey. My family and I as kids would go along with her and she would have some interesting tales to tell.Occasionally, we would visit her house and she would always had a full tin of biscuits standing by. She always grinded her coffee in some sort of contraption but the smell was wonderful. She had a wonderful collection of antique dolls which she kept in a large case in the front room and we had great fun playing in the huge garage at the rear of her property. Her brother was dead when we were growing up and the garage was full of weird and strange(to us) tools.A lovely lady.
