Edward F. Gilligan was my father. (maybe the 2nd) He was born, about 1895. He was also a millionaire. Had a juke box business, Chicago Music Company, policeman, fireman, pub owner and streetcar driver. Came from Belly-glass, County Mayo.
He was in the 1924 IRA and received an Irish pension from the IRA Army (about $80 a month). Was on the run for a long time. The English tried to hang him 5 times. The IRA saved him. He and my mother divorced when I was about 10 years old. He remarried and I never seen him again until I was 22 (about 1960) and he was about to be killed by the mob. He died at 75 in 1970 or 1971. There are many stories. They are wild. He was not a pioneer as I am. He claimed he could take down any man by slapping with the back of me hand. I asked him to try it on me.
