Mick, whatever you think about Oliver Kileen is not relevant to the topic of this man called Denis. He was a brute, bullying in the schoolyard is one thing but this man brutalised hundreds of children, we were all bullied! Because I was from Dublin (a Jackeen) the local hard men used to wait at the top of Castle Street in groups and take turns at having a kick at the outsider! I would get home day after day and get into more trouble for being bloodied and messed up again and again! My problem was I never backed down and took my beatings! What this man Denis did was altogether different, he was an adult! He knew exactly what he was doing! He was just typical of the system back then when the religious fraternity could do just whatever they wanted without fear of retribution or censure!!
