I am not sure if that is the correct spelling? ""Waites
As a child I have fond memories of the Waites chanting "Good mmorning Mr and Mrs MacLoughlin and family on a cold and frosty morning each morning at about 1.00Am for the week prior to Christmas day. Afterwards they called to the house for donation /stipend for the including the family in the greeting.
Does anyone know the origin of the custom which was very much part of the festive season when I was growing up in the town and I rember with fondness
