a cara....the pellys did indeed own it for years...they were a wonderful family.....and i knew them quite well.....my cousin ....madge murray worked there ....and i often had a nosh in the back kitchen......the stair case was grand....and very imposing....in its glory years...it was the premier hotel in the town.....rotarians....lions....met there....in the grand days of the circuit court.....barristers....and lesser legal lights congregated there during seesion interludes...many a case got replayed and argued there by fitzgerald kenny.....commercial travellers....made this their pit stop whilst on business to castlebar......i still see the great lough mask trout the adorned the entrance foyere....and with great pride remember the unveiling of the michael davitt plaque.....the imperial should be preserved as a town historical building......
