I was very lucky to spend many summer holidays as a child on the family farm near French Hill outsde Castlebar. My father John Jarleth Bourke was born there but sadly died in 1958 aged just 32 in Worcester England when I was just 3 years old. My relatives brought me over for summer holidays and I was blown away by the beauty of County Mayo. Second to none in my opinion ! I retired from the Merseyside Police in 2008 after 30 years and live in St Helens just outside Liverpool. I have two fine sons Daniel Sean Bourke aged 19 who hopes to study pharmacy in Sunderland University this autumn and Rory Alexander Bourke who hopes to study Biomedical Sciences at Leeds. I believe I would not recognise Castlebar today. I may go back one day ! Good luck to you all !
