Swimming and fishing in Saleen, it was a very different lake back then, where all the houses are now was wonderful hazel wood. Scouring the area for raft building materials, lying on the hot galvinized roof of the oil shed with the Touhy and Galvin brothers, going to the bog with Tommy Moran for the day, Helping Joe Winters bring in the hay, he had a cart which a whole hay rick could be winched onto. Buying ice pops in Walshes shop in Saleen. Going out to Clydagh river to catch gorgeous little brown trout, The walk to Lough Lannagh on a hot day to swim, when the diving board was still there. Tiny wild strawberries on the Milebush road, little explosions of flavour in the mouth, later in summer mushroom hunting. The flagons of Cidona with the the black screw top, bottles of Taylor Keith lemonade, Marietta biscuits
