My father taught at Park national school. He fed his pupils a plethora of books loaded into a huge wooden crate loaned from the Library on the hill every three months. He also borrowed the large camera projector from the military barracks, and ordered film from the board of education dept. in Dublin.he also procured a reel to reel recording device and once or twice a year he organised a variety show in the school usually around christmass or at the end of the schiool year. He would have the then lads and lassies recite poetry, songs.Re-living the "School Around the Corner" the Paddy Crosby favourite was the grand finale.Introducing "Multimedia" in essence decades before 'My pod, your pod pea pod bloging ,twittering,mailing messages with no stamps,Mr Dos, doh say doh,some gates don't stay closed and the cows get out, the world at our fingertips mar ea. Bringing friends to-gether on 'Facebook'is not a patch the way friends,old and new are to gether on this here domain; "The Nostalgia Board" and our friendly neighbour across the river The Main Bulliten Board". I happen to have in my possession an audio cassette taken from the original reel to reel of tale, song,and nostalgia from the pupils of Park national school many moons ago.
