It has been mentioned that this board can seem to be top heavy with noting the passing of our friends and neighbours. However, I have to record my deep sorrow at the passing of Gay Reilly. He was a fantastic character. I served him his pints of Smithwicks in the Humbert and attened football matches with him. I listened to himself and my father discuss politics in the shop, with one trying to rise the other while Carrolls Number Ones burned constantly. I had many dealings with him in J Rs in Derrywash and my mother loved him. He was a rogue in the most complimentary meaning of the word and the town is poorer for his passing. RIP Auld Stock eile.
