Have the Waits returned this Christmas? I have just read a short story by Charles Dickens " The seven poor Travellers" written in 1854 when he describes the Waits as follows in the vicinity of Rochester Cathedral Kent- As I passed along the High - street, I heard the Waits at a distance, and struck off to find them.They wee playing near one of the old gates of the City, at the cornerof a wonderfully quaint row of red-brick tenements, which the clarionet obligingly were inhabited by the Minor Canons......." How I remember the accordion obliginly wishe my family best wishes on a cold and frosty morning over fifty years ago in Castlebar Happy Christmas everyone a sentimental time for all auld Castlebar folk
