Ireland's oldest woman

Posted by Royal on August 04, 2012 at 19:53:45:

In March 1956, one of the last living links with ‘Black 1847’ was severed with the death of Mrs Ann McNally at the County Home, Castlebar. Known as ‘Grainne’ to all, she had celebrated her 108th birthday the previous November and was believed to have been Ireland’s oldest woman.
A native of Tullabawn, Louisburgh she had entered the Home three years previously and was the mother of 11 children. By all reports, she was very popular with staff. She had never been sick or had to wear glasses and only smoked once; a pipe to cure toothache. She had the spirit and appearance of a lady in her sixties and had a superb memory and was so popular that staff had to restrict visitors to her.
I though it would be nice to mark an incredible lady.
