Mick would know the finer details. I do know there was a Patrick Baynes in Derrycoosh in the mid 1800s (Griffith's Valuation, GV) and there was a James Baynes in Bellaburke near Killawalla in the latter half of the 19th century. Only two Baynes households were recorded in GV for the whole island of Ireland, both in Mayo. Catherine Baynes is recorded as a landlord on Altamont Street, Westport.

There were also a large number of holdings in the name of Baines in the Bellaburke, Killavally (Killawalla), Bohaun North (near Killavally) townlands in Griffith's Valuation. The land was under the names Patrick, Thomas, Judith and Anne Baines. There were 21 Baines households in Ireland, 10 of them in Mayo.
