Interesting. There may be more evidence of his visits.

The editors notes (by P Archer) to Dykes Reminiscences state:
"He loved not only his native Scotland but also the West of Ireland and came with his wife and their friend Peter Lord to fish at Cashel Bay every year from 1951 to 1978. They stayed at the Zetland Hotel and then, from its opening year at Cashel House, which they had known as a private residence. ". He stopped visiting for health reasons because he died in 1979.
