Visit of The British Prime Minister, Part 2

The story didn’t finish there. In December 1957 (nine years later) the then former PM Clement Attlee sent a letter addressed to Castlebar Golf Club Captain Paddy Irwin. It read; My wife and I have pleasant recollections of the kind hospitality we received from Castlebar Golf Club. “With all good wishes to you in your venture – Attlee”.

He also sent a cheque as a subscription towards their building fund as they were busy raising funds to either renovate or erect a new club house.
The Committee involved appreciated the kind gesture and proposed that the letter and cheque would be framed and displayed in the clubhouse. Maybe someone might know if this happened?
