It is decades since I traversed that ground on my way to lunch in the Greenbay - upmarket dining emporium of the day. It is too obvious to be the 1798 Memorial or the grave-site of John Moore or the Methodist Church building or the prehistoric public toilets erected in the early seventies.

Where is Oliver Killeen when we need him?

Perhaps it is something related to Michael Davitt and the Land League. The Ernie O Malley bronze fountain. The Frazier's Fencibles 1798 Memorial stone.
The hanging tree near the Methodist Church. The visit of John Wesley. The playing pitch area (batting crease) of Lord Lucan's cricket ground. One or two of the original gas streetlamps - I give up.
Gwan,gwan,gwan give us a clue.

I got it ! On the 21st Dec, with the low early morning sun, piercing through Rock Square, a momentary shaft of light shines across the Mall and illuminates the Archives of Mayo County Library - a feature that is truly old,of immense value and people rarely give it a second glance.
