Not having the luxury of the bar castle citizen to take a stroll around the 'Mall' to see what he or she might see that they have not allegedly seen before or paid no heed to ancient historical culture. So I called a friend up at 'Lockheed Martin' Paddy Joe!! and asked him to maneauver their now famous Hi=Res 'Bird' to hover over the Mall of Castlebar and shine it's all seeing all knowing lights on the green.to see what I might see.. So here I goes 'In for a Penny in for a Pound. At first I got hung up on the"Fellowship Center". I thought it might have an original site for the 'Anglican Church' just up the road.Nay. Christchurch was built in 1739 making it one of the oldest buildings in Castlebar. I thought then it might have been a place of worship while the "The Queen of the most holy Rosary was being built. I nixed that idea as being too obvious as Mr King says "As You walk around the mall". Then I noticed a series of 'Lamposts, that appear to be old made from iron with the beveled design on the bottom. At that time electricity would have been in short supply, light pollution was non existent, little or no cars on the road.On a cloudy winters night the mall would have been as black as the ace of spades. Unless! they laid a gas pipe and had someone go round to each lampost turn on the flow and fired it up. On this note your honours I rest my case !!?, Cordialy Yours ,'The Bird'.
