Bridie Molony RIP

Posted by Tempus on January 14, 2015 at 11:14:52:

Sad to hear of the death of Bridie who passed away yesterday at AbbeyBreaffy Nursing Home outside Castlebar. Bridie was a resident there for a number of years and was extremely well cared for.
I used to meet her on a regular basis and have a chat about the auld stock of Castlebar, and she loved to talk about living in the last thatched house in town, on the corner of Newantrim Street/Linenhall Street opposite Rocky Moran's. I can still picture the green half door and indeed the magnificent altar display for the annual Corpus Christi procession. She'd still ask for a fag and she'd still say "I'll say a prayer for you". She was always in good form and she'd enjoy a laugh and a chat about the town in the good old days. In recent weeks, she struggled with her health, but still managed to have a smile on her face.
I'm not sure if she has any living relations, but she was always a pleasure to meet over the past few years especially, and I'm sure we all have our own fond memories of seeing her around Castlebar in years gone by. I recall quite a number of years ago when she was brought to Westport for a meal, with some people who were very kind to her. She was quoted afterwards as saying that she had a great time and had high tea on a low table!
May she rest in peace.
