...i am completely shocked to hear of the death of Donald Dunne...the dunne family were an established root in the old stock families of mchale road...Donald was a personal friend in those 40 s and 50. ..how often I leaned on the railings of number 19 as we engaged in banter...times we went to saleen lake together...and night walks with other lads out around Kilkenny crossroads....later Donald started work in the bacon factory.
and on Saturday afternoons we would walk down town together...donal through hard work initiative rose to management in the factory beef dept. ..i lost contact with him because of my travels...but reconnected with him in the mid to late 60s when I worked in the beef dept....just the other day his memory bolted across my mind as I reminisced of home...the lights of mchale road are dimmed by his passing...but his legacy of sincerity..niceness...and integrity will be a monument to his character..
the road is fast losing the old stock backbone of its former greatness...to the family my sincerest condolences. ...farewell donal...and whenever I hear Nat King Cole sing unforgettable I will feel your presence...and song that we made our own when it first hit the airwaves. ..R.I.P.my dear friend
