This is very sad news. The Welcome Inn has been around for many years, been a mainstay in the town. Now the town is down to one hotel. Where exactly are tourists supposed to stay. Castlebar used to be a vibrant, bustling town. I was born there in 1960, there were hotels, industry, business's, even an airport. We all know the recession has effected the country as a whole, but Castlebar just seemed to get hammered. Westport is holding it's own, and even moving on, and good luck to them. But surely there is something that can be done to prevent the town from falling even further down. It's not as if it's without influence in Dublin.
