My apologies for having brought you over old ground once again Murrisk but I'm a relative newcomer to the Nostalgia Board and I was not aware of previous correspondence on this topic. I would like to thank you and congratulate you on the fine piece of research you've done.
It appears that the level of the lake has been progressively lowered over the past 150 years or so with the inevitable result of what we have today. I was "up the lake" recently and the tears came to my eyes when I saw the mess that the lake has become today - it is totally covered in weeds now. I wonder if our Urban Council will recognise the value of the lake and perhaps restore it to its former magnificence - would it be feasible to raise the level of the lake again or perhaps dredge the lower reaches ?
