Hale Bopp put on a great show back in the summer of 1997. At the time, I was over on a hilltop observation post on the Macedonia/ Serbia border near a town called Golemi Gar. I would lie back on the roop of my HMMWV, listening to the evening call to prayer wafting up from the town below and watching the comet hang in the air like a glowing feather.
