I used to meet Tom Ketterick on my travels around Ireland when I was on the road and in later years we do a lot of business with Rehab whose building is beside the Hat Factory premises on Breaffy Road, and I would meet Tom there on a regular basis. He lived most of his life at Barrack Bridge and was heavily involved in Castlebar Celtic and was a keen angler. The article in the Irish Times was indeed super.
Now to the other question from "Gallows Hill". If you are about my vintage, you must remember Mr & Mrs Porges, who lived in the fine house just before you come to the original hat factory, as you approach from Newtown, an area you probably know very well. (John O'Donnell and his family now live there). I can't think of their daughter's name but it may have been Anna?
