As far as I know, Jean,Esker is a fairly common placename in Ireland. Maybe the Athenry one is the one in question.
Do you remember learning about eskers in your Geography in St Joseph's (the book was "Bonn agus Forscreamh na hÉireann" by Eibhlín de Buitléir)?
