The parade lapsed at some stage in the 60s and was revived by the Youth Club in `69 or `70. The organising committe comprised Marian Loughran, Fintan Murphy, Ronny Lydon, Julie Cresham?, David Gilligan and others I just can`t recall. There is a photo of the group somewhere. The stage for Irish dancing on the Mall was erected foc by Conlon Builders from Westport. Insurance was provided by Hibernian. The commercial section was led by Josie Bourke`s with a banner declaring " Ford leads the Way" ( at the insistence of Paddy Cairns who was Bourke`s manager ). There was the mother of all rows with the young nun in charge of St Angela`s school band who was refusing to allow the band to take part on foot of some bizarre technicality. I can`t recall the outcome. M.L. was our negotiator with the Sister.
