Yes there was a brewery in castlebar operative in 1824 under the name of GILDEA ( Pigots Directory) Irish Brewing Historian I suspect that it closed circa 1838 following the temperance movement of Fr. Theobold Matthew note for the record Mayo had many breweries around the early 19th century Westport[2] ballina[2] ballinrobe[1] Shrule[1]In the Exise district of FOxford there were[1] a single Distillery[2] 12 Breweries[3] 10 Malthouses
