I see reference below from UTP to the book by Vincent Power called "Send em home Sweatin'" and he's right, it's a great read. It traces the history of the showbands in Ireland from the Clipper Carlton, Mick Delahunty,Melody Aces,Gay Mc Intyre,Royal,Capitol,Miami,Drifters, Dixies, Greenbeats, Showband show on tv. with Paul Russell (remember his brother Fintan who worked with Foster Finance in Castlebar?) etc.etc. and the background to the ballroom era which changed Irish society dramatically in just a few short years. It's a terrific read. Now, most of the names I remember from my mother, as I was too young in those days to such have personal memories.
