Thanks MM. The river from Saleen to Louh Lannagh goes underground at Lover's Lane and reemerges beside Tony Conway's house. On the map, this is the area between the 'iv' of 'River deepened' to just above the word 'Rises' across the Westport Road. A patient named Pat Riley used to sit and smoke his pipe at the point where the river goes underground. From there he could see the Reek and the mountains on the way to Achill. The then county engineer, Joe Egan, built his house and blocked Pats view. During landscaping of the front yard beside the Westport Road a caterpillar broke through the the 'roof' of the underground river and had to be rescued.

I'm not sure which car park you are referring to MM. If it is the car park 'at the back of Dunnes' then you are looking at the Castlebar River after it exits Lough Lannagh.
