It may not be the correct spelling but that is what we called her, brats that we were!!! Does anyone out there remember her? I will never forget her black shawl and pot black face. On our way home from school we would go the Linenhall Street way to catch a glimpse of her. Then the shouting match would start. "Cowcabbage, cowcabbage" and she would follow us with her shouts and her big stick. All we wanted was a chase. Her language was choice for us young fellows....."go 'way you bastard ya, your'e grandfather was a free mason" was the mildest I remember. Sometimes she would go into the church and start shouting her head off.
