I suppose we all have selective memories at times!
I know of a friend of mine who with her school pal, killed a cat and hung it up on a neighbour's gate to frighten the neighbour. These two animal murderers are now in their mid forties and living respectable lives in Castlebar. Can you imagine the outcry if that happened today?
Another incident I recall, was the milk being let run out of the big silver churn which belonged to George Moran from Sion Hill. George had a pony and small cart and delivered milk throughout the town. I can still see it flowing in the drain at the side of the footpath. The outcome as far as I know was a good scolding from parents to the guilty parties, but it happened again.....
