Posted by Yer Man on August 14, 2002 at 10:47:27: Was talking to someone over the weekend discussing the buillte - Basically, as I understand it, the buillte was a b with a little dot over it which was edged out sometime in the 1960's by Department of Education bureaucrats, favouring the alternative "bh" which gave the equivilant "V" sound. Anyone know when exactly the buillte was consigned to the verbal dust bin?
