On the way there was a quaint wooden bridge at the rear of where
Chadwicks is now.It could fit at least 2 people passing each other
and it was ashame when it was removed and replaced by an ugly
concrete strip at the weir.Getting to the Point meant walking over
many fields and climbing over fences and hedges but in the warm
summers of the 60s it was aheaven hidden away from all especially for us
townies.The walk home was long and many times you would have to
drape a towel from your short trousers to stop the backs of your legs from being burnt.
But what I was wondering is what is or was the castle/fort on
the way to the point and what is its history.
