L. C. Mellor (Lewis Charles) was my grandfather. He and his wife Lavinia (grannie) lived in Castlebar from about 1901 to about 1925 when they moved with their family to England. The children were Edith (my mother) her sister Annie (who we called Nancy), and brothers Charles, Lewis G. and Benjamin. They moved to Fordingbridge in Hampshire and opened a shop there with a bake house attached. They were very well known in the town. I believe there taxi(s) were some of, if not the, earliest cars in Castlebar. I am checking the exact address where they lived, if I can find it.
