Panic is over for the moment Spiceloft. What happened during the term of the last town council was that Frank Durcan commissioned a plan that proposed that a hotel complex could be built on the hills overlooking the lake.Whilst this was not agreed by anyone there was a feeling that housing could be built overlooking the lake. A vigorous campaign was launched to oppose the rezoning and eventually at the council meeting a vote ensued to rezone Against were Ml Kilcoyne Chairman,JMee,Sean Burke and Pat King. For FDurcan,EGaravan,Senator PBurke and Blackie Gavin.Aidan crowley was absent. On the casting vote of the chair Ml Kilcoyne the proposal was thankfully defeated. The reviewed proposal was then put on public display and certain landowners wanted to again have their land overlooking the lake rezoned to enable resisential development take place.Only 2 councillors agreed at this stage at a meeting 2 weeks ago ,frank Durcan and Brendan Heneghan. For the moment its safe but BE VIGILANT.
