I was delighted to see that some of the recent cotributors to the NB referred to Lough Lannagh as Church Lake. It was always called that name and never Lough Lannagh when I was a child. I'm sure there is history lurking in the name and we should therefore retain it.
On a similar note, I deplore
1. The pronunciation of some local place names - its always RATH bawn and not RAW bawn anymore
2. The obnoxious names of newly constructed housing estates e.g. Belvedere Place, Victoria Place etc.
