This gave me quite a chuckle. I remember the Saturday mornings years ago in Castlebar when Ma, lining up the sixpences and three penny bits on the window ledge as bribes, we would swallow the cup of tea made from Sienna Pods (Ugh!!). It had a pecular color somewhere between brown and green and the pong produced from the boiling pot can only be imagined! If we did not drink the poison we got no breakfast (and no allowance to spend at Mrs Leonard's sweetshop) so we choked and gagged and whined to no avail. We kids called it "Ballinamore Tea" 'cos it tasted like the tea the nuns at Ballinamore Abbey served up when we visited our aunt there. We dreaded Saturday mornings as we knew what was coming. Ma, as did her mother and her mother before that, believed it was all in the pipes and she was determined to keep us healthy. It was years before I could enjoy a good cup o'tay as I was waiting for the awful taste and inevitable need to spew! My siblings and I are now all middle aged, relatively healthy with great pipes so there must be something in it.
