By the way, when you read the link posted by Murrisk, it brings you to the television programme Léargas and at the end there is a quote from Law Lecturer Tom O'Malley. Some of you may not know that said Tom O'Malley is also a Castlebar man. Tom in fact sat in the desk beside me in Bro. Augustus's 6 th. class in the national school. He hails from that wonderfully named townland of Tawnacullawee, out the Rathbaun road. His Dad worked alongside Johnny Scriney, filling the potholes with tar and chips. Mr. O'Malley was in charge of the horse and cart, while Johnny managed the tar in a barrel, with a little tap at the bottom, and the shovelfulls of chps. Is it my imagination, or was the weather really much better then?
