Hugh Halligan was my grandfather; I am the oldest child of his oldest child. I believe he was Deputy Fire Commissioner as well as Chief for nearly forty years and invented the Halligan Tool. After they were forged, he would paint them silver in our garage in Pearl River before he gave up the patant. My mother, her brothers, and many cousins still living in New York have much more information about this dear man than I do. Would you like their e-mail addresses?
