Castlebar without McHale Rd,would be a town devoid of character and colour. McHale Rd without "The Halligans", "The Killcourses", "The McGintie's," Some of the family's i went to school with, likewise, (great craic they were). Bernard my condolences on the loss of your brother John. You startled me a couple of years back when you suddenly popped up on the board, I had not seen the name "Halligan", for umpteen years. Then you faded into the background as people do around here. We were blest with the encyclopedic knowledge, and presence of "Johnny Mee", on the board for a few busy months "Chairman of The Road" . Perhaps you might hang around the N.B. here for a while and share some stories from the shelf. In closing here to -nite, I would like to pay tribute to one of the most positive, enthusiastic, cheery , persons I have ever met; "Nellie Devaney", loved life. Her infectuous charm never failed, but to cheer me up, as she sang her way thro'the day. I have to go now,as "there is a hooley on in Halligan's house to-nite!." Slainte a Cairde go Leir, is Mise Seamas O'Dea.
